A lot of questions regarding what and what to learn as a student and make money of it have blasted and topped google search on a regular basis. Some people believe as a student there should be no need for you to work to avoid distractions, they are not far from the truth though but one thing to put into consideration is our country’s economy.

It is no more funny as regards to the downgrade of economy value and inflation in the current prices of goods in the market. As a student you should understand that “pocket money no dey do us again” which means we run regularly outta cash due to some necessary and unnecessary expenses in and off campus.

Currently a lot of students do extra educational activities for cash ie; project works, writing of assignments and a lot of them while some students do part time jobs to maintain steady cash flow regardless of the amount to be paid at the end.

How can Graphic Design be of help?

Graphic design is the use of smart devices like mobile phones and laptops (laptops most preferably) to create a viewable artwork either for personal or commercial use.

Learning this art is one of the nicest and simplest exercise to do as it may not cost you a huge amount of money to start up.

What do I need to begin?

You don’t need the holy ghost fire before you can be regarded as a graphic designer, just a few here and there tools can get you started;

1.          Firstly you need to grab a computer or laptop which is the most important tool. You can’t imagine a footballer getting ready for a match without a soccer boots, funny huh?

A tutor doesn’t possible mean a real life human, the world has gone digital so all you need is a tutor online or offline. You can use several trusted online learning aids like youtube to start with.

3.          Finally, you need to get a software for your designs. Softwares like photoshop or corel draw can give you a good guide into learning something real fun and please don’t give up yet because its not as easy as I typed.

Now, if you have got the above items and learnt the skills, let’s dive into how it can profit you as a student.

As a student, you will first understand that one thing you need to consider before picking an off-academic job is time. Yes time, you need to fetch an activity that will give you enough time to study, to attend classes and enjoy campus fun yet leaves you with some bucks in your wallet.

Graphic designing is a remote job, you can serve anybody anywhere as long as communication is on. All you need do is take the details of the job to be done, receive payments through any means of your choice and send your designs through mail or whatsapp. That simple!!!

Again, being a freelance graphic designer aids you in having time for yourself, you are the boss here and you do the dirty works. You do the billing and designing and you get to avoid doing some heavy jobs for a low amount of money because that’s what the boss wants, you are the boss and you can work at any time of your choice.

Everyone won’t be a designer though but if you have interest in such just know that you are making the right choice and with proper guidance you can hit the market real good.
